Resting Place for Migratory Birds

... is the appropriate description for the UNESCO biosphere reserve Schaalsee.

Discover the 310 km² protected area between the metropolitan areas of Hamburg, Lübeck and Schwerin - characterised by moors and lakes, fields, pastures and wet meadows as well as beech forests. The 24 km² Schaalsee is the centre of the UNESCO biosphere reserve and gives it its name. The inner German border once ran through the lake.

We warmly welcome you!
