„Each biosphere reserve is unique in itself. What all biosphere reserves in Germany have in common, however, is their guiding principle: a triad of ecological, economic and social goals. It is not only a matter of conserving and promoting biological diversity, but also always involving the local population in sustainable management. This potential of biosphere reserves should be used even more to develop exemplary solutions, for example for sustainable tourism, the development of regional value chains or the expansion of renewable energies.“
